Department Commandant
Presides and moderates at all regular and special meetings of the Department. Ensures observance of all regulations, appoints officers and committees as required, and serves as ex-officio member of all committees. Ensures proper procedure and decorum are maintained at all times using Roberts Rules as a guide.

Assists the Commandant and presides during the Commandant's absence. Chairs the Department Staff and pursues, initiates, and implements all programs that increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the Department. Keeps a written record of all significant actions of the office.

Assumes the duties of the Senior Vice-Commandant in his absence and is responsible for arranging the social affairs of the Department. Presides as Chairman of the Membership Committee and keeps a written record of all significant actions of the office.

Acts as legal counsel to the Department and advises the Commandant, officers, and members on the regulations and laws of the Marine Corps League. Renders written opinions of law and files copies with the Department Adjutant and Commandant.

Junior Past Commandant
Serves as a voting member of the Board of Trustees and acts as an advisor to the current Commandant, drawing on experience from the previous term. Assists in continuity of leadership, mentors incoming officers, and represents institutional knowledge at the Department level. Also serves as a check on governance, helping ensure decisions align with the Department's bylaws, traditions, and long-term mission.

The Marine Corps League is the only congressionally chartered United States Marine Corps related veterans organization in the country. Its charter was signed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt on August 4, 1937, and credits Major General John A. Lejeune — the 13th Commandant — as one of its founding members.
